Update on the Wee One

Emma Jayne Schoonmaker - 24 weeks in the womb!
This weekend is the July 4th holiday, and our little girl is 24 weeks in utero. We are told that at this point of the pregnancy, the baby is about one foot long–about the length of an ear of corn. Last night was the first time I felt her kicking! She is keeping Joyce entertained with hiccups and all kinds of bustling activity.
Meanwhile, we’ve already begun writing our girl’s name in cards, journals, and letters: Emma Jayne Schoonmaker. This is our first namesake baby–she is named after her paternal grandmother (my mom, Janie) and her paternal great-great-grandmother (my dad’s grandmother, Emma). Amazingly, despite always struggling to find girls’ names that resound with both Joyce and me, we landed on this name the night we found out we were having a girl, just two weeks ago.
Emma Jayne, it won’t be long, my dear! One trimester to go! We’ll see you soon, sweet pea.

I love the name! It reminds me of something you’d find in a Jane Austen novel. Very pretty, can’t wait to meet her!
